Our approach

A Thoughtful Process
Built Around You

Four steps, in the same order, every time. The work changes with the person; the discipline behind it does not.

Understand

We listen first — to your goals, your values and what you actually want your money to do.

Analyse

We assess your current position, the risks in it and the opportunities you may be missing.

Design

We build a strategy tailored to you, in plain language, with the trade-offs made explicit.

Monitor

We track progress, review regularly and adapt the plan as your circumstances evolve.

01

Understand

Before anything is recommended, we need to know what we are recommending it for.

The first stage is almost entirely listening. What you own, what you owe, who depends on you, what you are working towards and what you would rather never have to worry about again. We ask about the things people usually leave out — the business that may be sold, the parent who may need care, the child who may not follow the plan you had in mind.

What this stage produces

A full picture of your position, not a snapshot
Goals stated in your words, not in industry language
The constraints and commitments you cannot move
An honest read on how much risk you can live with
02

Analyse

Then we test what you already have against what you actually need.

We look at how your current arrangements behave under pressure, what they cost you each year, where they overlap and where they leave a gap. Often the most valuable finding at this stage is not a new opportunity — it is an existing arrangement doing less than you assumed.

What this stage produces

Cost and duplication across existing arrangements
Concentration and gaps in how you are invested
Stress-testing against the outcomes you fear most
A clear statement of what needs to change and why
03

Design

The plan is written to be used, which means it has to be understandable.

You receive a strategy in plain language, with the reasoning visible and the trade-offs made explicit. Where we have chosen one route over another, we say what we gave up to do it. If part of the plan does not sit right with you, we would rather find that out now than later.

What this stage produces

Written recommendations you can read in one sitting
Trade-offs and costs stated, not buried
An implementation order, so nothing happens out of sequence
Nothing signed until you are comfortable with all of it
04

Monitor

A plan is only as good as the attention it gets afterwards.

We review at least annually, and sooner when your circumstances change. Reviews start with your life rather than with markets, because it is usually life that moves the plan. When a change is genuinely warranted we say so; when the right action is to do nothing, we say that too — and explain why.

What this stage produces

Scheduled reviews at least once a year
Progress reported against your goals, not a benchmark
Access between reviews whenever something changes
Recommendations to act — or to leave things alone

What to expect

How Long It
Usually Takes

An indication, not a promise. Complexity changes the shape of it, and we would rather take the time than rush a decision you live with for decades.

01 First conversation No cost, no obligation. Around an hour, in person or by video.
02 Discovery and analysis One to three weeks, depending on how much needs gathering.
03 Plan presented Written recommendations, walked through with you rather than posted.
04 Implementation Only once you have agreed each part of it, in the order that makes sense.
05 Ongoing review At least annually, and whenever your circumstances change.

Step One Is a Conversation

It costs nothing, commits you to nothing, and usually tells both of us whether there is a fit.
